A dark chocolate fudge with the flavors of coffee and almond that you’ll be craving again and again after the first taste! It’s paleo and vegan, peanut and soy free, with no refined sugar and nothing artificial added. This mocha almond fudge gives you simple and delicious ingredients with decadently rich flavor and texture!
Fudge is in the house! Again and again and again. We’re on a roll! Because dang it, at this point my entire family is addicted. But seriously, the plan was for this one to be ALL FOR ME! You see, I put coffee in it and I thought that would repel the children, however, they were not put off in the least. More fascinating contradictory little-people behavior. Or maybe anything is game when it comes to chocolate fudge? Can’t keep up with their rules.
I’m not sure if I should be happy they’re embracing a more grown-up flavor palate or just annoyed that I did not get to eat the whole batch. The dark chocolate mocha flavor did, however, successfully keep my milk-chocolate-4-lyfe-husband out of the fudge bowl, mostly, so there’s still that.
So how should I describe this fudge? Try it and then you tell me. Okay not meaning to be rude, so just kidding. This fudge is my personal favorite because I have a very limited short term memory. No, that’s not it, sorry. It’s really because it has the PERFECT texture. And all those yummy rich grown-up flavors I love. But the texture! Wow.
I am not yet skilled at 1) biting a piece of fudge attractively or 2) photographing that attractive bite in a way that actually shows you how awesome the texture is, so you’ll just have to take my word for it. (*Update – I re-photographed these with “the bite” – hope I did it justice!)
Or make it yourself. For the simple reason that this fudge is super easy to make, and aside from the cooling part, is DONE in 15 minutes. Do you have 15 minutes of time to invest in completely changing your life? Or at least to make dessert? That’s what I thought, it’s a no brainer!
Mocha Almond Fudge {Paleo & Vegan}

- 2 tbsp organic coconut sugar
- 1 tsp organic almond extract - you can also use vanilla though it will change the flavor
Chocolate Candy Mixture
- 1 cupEnjoy Life dark chocolate chips - or preferred brand
- 1/4 cup organic coconut oil
- 1/4 cup organic full fat canned coconut milk
- 1/4 cup organic coconut sugar
- 2 tbsp instant coffee crystals
- 1/3 cup finely chopped raw almonds*
- pinch of fine grain sea salt*
Instructions
-
In a medium bowl, combine all ingredients for the Almond Butter Mixture and stir until smooth. Set aside.
-
In a small saucepan over low heat, combine all ingredients for the Chocolate Candy Mixture while stirring continuously.
-
Once melted, thick, and shiny, remove from heat and allow to cool a few minutes.
-
Transfer all of the almond butter mixture into the chocolate candy mixture and stir well with a soft spatula, scraping the sides to fully incorporate all the ingredients.
-
When the entire mixture is well combined and smooth, spread it evenly into a parchment paper lined 8 x 8 baking dish. Scrape the sides of the saucepan to get every last drop! If adding the chopped almonds, sprinkle them over the top and gently swirl them in with a knife or spatula, then sprinkle the pinch of sea salt over the top.

Any milk-chocolate-4-lyfe people in your family?
Have you used instant coffee in recipes? I knew it had to be good for something 😉
The Cookie ChRUNicles says
I think your fudge photographed really well 🙂 I could swear I have a coffee kcup flavor like this! I want to make this with peanut butter. Yum.
Michele says
Thanks! Yes it would make a good coffee flavor, I wonder if I could melt some in my coffee now that you mention?
Lisa @ Running Out Of Wine says
Looks delicious! Now I really need to make fudge this weekend. Just need to decide which one to try first:)
Michele says
Thanks! They’re both good, can’t go wrong!

I think that my mom would die over this. Her favorite ice cream flavor used to be Jamocha almond fudge from Baskin Robbins, so I feel like you have her covered! Plus, it’s her birthday, so perfect!
Michele says
I worked at Friendly’s in high school and remember the vienna mocha chunk, I bet that’s really similar 🙂 Happy birthday to her again!
Skinny Fitalicious says
This sounds so good! I love the addition of coffee to anything chocolate it just brings out the flavors so much more.
Michele says
Definitely adds depth, love it 🙂
cottercrunch says
i’ll gladly try it! i want to reach through my computer now. Coffee and fudge? and paleo? UM –> YEA!
Michele says
Agree, I had to do this!

I remember being your children’s age and loving coffee with a lot of milk in it–that creamy, milkshake color. My children loved it too as well as mocha fudge ice cream. I think coffee is a flavor enhancer for chocolate no matter what age you are. You either like coffee or you don’t. Usually no in between. Have a GREAT weekend(know you love this humid heat lol).
Michele says
My parents drank instant coffee with no sugar so I didn’t love coffee flavor until I tried the vienna mocha chunk at Friendly’s 🙂 Not loving the heat but trying not to complain, have a great weekend!
The Freckled Runner says
that looks delish! I might just have to make some tomorrow 🙂
Michele says
Make it! You won’t regret it 🙂

I should try it in a post run smoothie! Now that I have a whole container I need to experiment 🙂 Have a great weekend!
Strength and Sunshine says
Idk, but for me it is DARK chocolate for life! Just like I like my coffee, black and dark! And anytime coffee firsts with a recipes, load it in 😉 AND you need to try Pure Coffee Extract (I get it from Frontier Naturals), best extract to use and much better for flavor than actual instant coffee!
Michele says
Dark chocolate for me too hands down 🙂 I should try that coffee extract, sounds great!
Morgan @ Morgan Manages Mommyhood says

Coffee and chocolate are a match made in heaven, and the texture of this fudge looks so.freaking.GOOD. I went through a phase where I was kind of addicted to this one particular brand of instant coffee, but that was pretty short lived and I went back to the good stuff. It’s useful in some recipes, though!
Michele says
My parents drank it every day and still do, I really can’t stand it for drinking but a little spoonful here and there in recipes works for me 🙂 And yes, the texture!

ohhhhh wow i love this!!!! i have fond childhood memories of instant coffee. i grew up on HK style coffee which uses nescafe, it’s a Hong Kong thing – you make your coffee with instant nescafe and evaporated milk and lots of sugar. so anything that uses instant coffee has a special place in my heart 🙂 love!
Michele says
My parents still drink instant coffee and that was the only coffee I knew for so long! It worked well in this recipe, I’ll try it again in others 🙂
thisrunnersrecipes says
This fudge looks amazing. Like, I would reach and grab a piece through my computer if I could. I’m pretty sure also that the sole purpose of instant coffee is for baking – otherwise you just can’t call that stuff coffee.
Michele says
Glad it’s good for something, because I have a container of it now and need to experiment! Hope you try this 🙂
lifewithniki says
Is there honestly a sexy way to bite into fudge? I will definitely be attending that workshop because I am also unskilled at this task.
I so used to be a milk-chocolate-4-lyfer as a kid (even a huge white chocolate fan) but now I have converted to the dark side (literally) and enjoy dark chocolate so much!
These look amazing <3.
Michele says
I see some sexy bite marks on Pinterest so there must be a way 😉 I’m also a dark convert, it’s all what you know! My kids are used to dark and like it 🙂
Heather@hungryforbalance.com says
Coffee and chocolate are such a perfect combo! I love this recipe! I am pinning for very soon in the future!
Michele says
Awesome! I know you’ll love it 🙂

Oh my goodness this sounds so good! I bet the coffee crystals give it a really rich deep flavor! My husband just looked over my shoulder and said, “that looks goooood” making this when we return from our trip!
Michele says
Haha! Hope you try it out, definitely a good one!
Libby Oed says
I am a white-chocolate-lyfe person at heart but I haven’t found a good vegan replacement. I know I have terrible taste! I eat and enjoy dark chocolate but it will never be my true love! I LOVE coffee and I LOVE fudge though. However for some reason I am not usually a fan of them mixed. I like my coffee black and strong and I find it weird having it any other way. This recipe sounds AMAZING though and I am definitely going to give it a try! I want some this minute but since it is 7am here I might have to wait a bit!
Michele says
I used to love white chocolate as a kid but it is seriously too sweet for me now! Hope you do try this out, it’s a great one although hopefully you can forgive the coffee chocolate flavor 🙂
Libby Oed says
I did make it and took it to a mid winter Christmas dinner on Saturday night. Everyone loved it, myself included!! It was so delicious thank you.. even sans white chocolate!
Michele says
That’s amazing, so happy you liked it!
sprint2thetable says
This looks incredible! I love a bit of coffee to bring out the chocolate.
Michele says
Adds some nice depth! Yum 🙂
avieira says
I want to make this, but I’m afraid I’ll eat the whole thing! Looks so good! 🙂
Michele says
It’s worth making! The good part is that it keeps for a while in the fridge, so no need to finish it all at once 🙂
ALD_FIT says
This looks so delicious, I can’t wait to try! I’ll have to wait until I have a group of people to make it for, though, or else I’ll just eat it all by myself 🙂
Michele says
Hope you try it! You can keep it in the fridge or even freeze it and eat it all yourself! Or wait for company, that will work too 🙂
Meghan@CleanEatsFastFeets says
Mmm I’m a texture girl and this sounds heavenly. Also, while I’m not a huge chocolate person (shhh, don’t tell), I’ve also had a soft spot for fudge; rich, creamy, satiny smooth fudge. In short, not to be confused with my actual height, I love this!
Michele says
Oh man I can’t imagine not loving chocolate 😉 I’ll always have a soft spot for good creamy fudge!
lisi says
