I’m shifting my usual content this week to feature black food bloggers who share healthy recipes of all kinds including paleo, Whole30, vegan, gluten-free and low carb.
And while it is not enough to write one post (or a week’s worth of posts) I hope you’ll not only click over to check out their recipes, but support them in other ways as well.
Some ways to support these women (and men) are: trying out their recipes and writing reviews on their websites, sharing their recipes on Pinterest, buying their cookbooks, signing up for their mailing lists, and purchasing from affiliate links. These actions will directly support them and will also help to spread their work to a larger audience!
I’m dividing the websites into those that often feature Paleo, low carb and Whole30 recipes and vegan recipes. Note that there is some overlap but I’m placing each in the most relevant category. I’ll link directly to the website homepage and also to a couple of recipes that I’m drooling over!
I am sharing even more black owned businesses and food bloggers on my Instagram stories this week (@paleorunningmomma) so check there for updates!
*I encourage you not to share my post on Pinterest (or other social media). Instead, to support the bloggers I ask that you directly share the blog authors’ recipes from each of their own websites.

Wow, I was already a HUGE fan of yours. Now I’m even more. Thank you for using your platform for good this week. Much love!
Michele says
Really hope you enjoy these blogs 🙂

Oh good grief. Because these “Black bloggers” would have had no audience at all without the boost of a woke “White girl”. ~~”The soft bigotry of low expectations”.
Michele says
I get what you’re saying and I felt some of that when deciding to post this. Ultimately I decided to go ahead with it, because while these bloggers already have large platforms, my mainly white audience might have not known about their content and I wanted to use the platform I have to make introductions. But I hear you.
Sheri says
This attitude is unfortunate and one of the reasons we haven’t progressed as far as we should. As a black woman, I appreciate you providing sites I’ve never heard of and may never have come across since I tend to “stumble” onto website. Thank you Michele for sharing and never be afraid to do what is right.
Michele says
Thank you for this Sheri, I hope you enjoy a bunch of new recipes!

I agree with the “bigotry of low expectations.” I just can’t understand why color matters ever. If these are great chefs, why aren’t you sharing these all along instead of patronizing these people now? We should be color blind all the time and just because there are some people who are racists does not mean we shouldn’t still just do what’s right all the time — and that is to treat everyone the same. Racism, such as it is, flows both directions. And it’s also ridiculous to assume that some racist cop in Minnesota represents all of America because he doesn’t. Almost all of America (though I doubt ALL since there are some bad people in the world) were horrified at what happened here. There are so many problems here — unions protecting bad cops with 17 write-ups, and at least SOME personal responsibility of people of ANY color not to put themselves in situations to get arrested at all. Or take drugs that probably contributed to their death at least some. It is NOT totally “irrelevant.” Not that I am not for prosecuting these cops — it might be some other motivation, too, if they knew each other. Could be dirty cops. But let’s just rush to judgment and lynch this guy like they once did to people of all colors, but certainly Native Americans and blacks. Let’s find out everything and not just make this guy a “woke” example. Let’s not burn down our country before we have all the facts. But there are a lot of things to address honestly, underlying problems that aren’t specifically race only and I can’t understand why we don’t talk about them instead of offering token garbage. And what about the good cops? Where is the outrage for this fantastic black cop just doing his job like a good American? He’s a nothing black man because he’s a cop? Or what about black conservatives who have no worth because they don’t agree with the progressive left? I make a lot of Sonny Anderson’s dishes–doing so this morning — because her food is so fabulous, but it never occurred to me to care what color she is. Or even her political persuasion. And if the left keeps trying to divide us this way, and we just go along with it, there isn’t much hope. We voted for a black president TWICE. Things can always improve especially with charter schools and other ways but this country is NOT inherently racist. We have serial killers here but that does not make us ALL serial killers. And child pornographers but we feel no guilt for their behavior and we shouldn’t. Every time some idiot horrible person does something like this, we shouldn’t feel collective guilt for it–we should hold them responsible. And we are — the police department was reviewing what went on and I am positive they planned to take action after they had all the facts. If I were black, I’d be insulted by this. I am against the death penalty because I’m never sure ANY us of really has complete “free will.” I’m a mixed philosopher. We probably have SOME control — just because we believe so. But just as we can argue that there are reasons for criminals to be so –their chemistry, their environment, the same is probably true of that cop. Maybe none of us has complete control and maybe we’re all victims of our parenting, our station in life, our body chemistry, mental illness. But there isn’t one inherently good race of people and one bad. Anyway, this is all ridiculous.
Kris Brown says
Hi, Lynn!
I am 100% agree with your point about view on racism since I am working on the paper on this topic. I have discovered useful information about racism on the website that offer free essay samples. You can browse here if that will be interested for you.

Black food bloggers ? Somehow that sits strangely … in a weird way.
Not sure why but it makes me feel uncomfortable. It startled me, to read in my inbox . At first I thought you meant like food that is black like black beans or black licorice or mole. Black food ? Is that even a cuisine ? I think there’s Caribbean cuisine and Sudanese cuisine … though but saying black food is like saying black food I guess ? It doesn’t make sense. We have French cuisine and Italian cuisine

I am very glad that I took a look at this post. My first inclination was to delete it. There are some really amazing looking recipes here from some lovely, creative and talented food bloggers that I had not seen yet. I can hardly wait to try some of them. However, I am unsure why they needed to be labeled by the color of their skin. I do understand what you are trying to do, it just seems a bit patronizing in my opinion.
Christy says
If I saw a post that said “here are a bunch of Asian food bloggers.” Or “here are some Hispanic food bloggers.” I would think why the heck does it matter…? This is racist. What you’re doing is helping to divide this country, as it’s being jet-propelled into extreme division.
Color of skin does not matter. There are white dumb people, black dumb people, and every other color has dumb people. I’m sad I have to stop following your blog. Food for thought…color does not matter.

Hello. Michelle, I like this format of your blogging. I confess that I generally admire bloggers who write sellable texts. I would like to learn that too. I even had problems with my studies. It’s just that the life of a student is not so carefree, because no one has canceled written assignments. This source https://www.nursingpaper.com/examples/medicine/ helps me a lot in my studies. Here I get acquainted with examples of medical abstracts. I am impressed that the topics are so diverse that it is always easy to choose a topic for your research.
